Who I could of been: Grief Living in Pain

There may have been a time where exercise, sports, and training was part of your daily life. Able to do different cross trainings over one week while staying in school, getting through the phases of growing up and becoming the person you wanted to be. Then you may have experienced a few losses along the way. An injury that put you out for a season, a muscle strain that never quite healed and maybe something that seemed to just ache every week.

“I believe I would of been (insert goal)

That I’d get to (achievements or milestones)

But after my injuries life changed.

I no longer could do (insert goal)”

These words may have popped up for you over the years. More so when the issues were obvious and present in your daily life. It even can still be going on now in your life where you can no longer travel that requires long walks or hiking or walking around the neighborhood.

It is not always obvious how we can move past these feelings of losing one’s self. However, here at MVNT Studio, we take a different approach to our client’s well being.

Relearning

There are often certain issues that come along with an injury. Some not so obvious to someone who is still young and carefree but overtime and years of life changes they become more obvious, at least to a movement professional like those here at MVNT Studio. You may notice a subtle limping due to an old knee or ankle injury. Some may even notice an increased shoulder stiffness that just won't go away after having regular massage treatments. These are parts and yet also connections that are happening when your foundation is off and things become a bit more unbalanced.

It’s important to learn to trust yourself again, not just because we can teach you alignment for your body but also reasons for why things may be happening or feeling the way that they are. Oftentimes we don’t understand the ups and downs of healing. However, like many aspects growth comes with difficulties and these can set people back to old habits. Overall the goal is that the progress becomes significant enough that longer periods of time are not a problem at all. Clients learn about recovery tools or exercises that work for those occasional aches that seem different than before.

Back to Movement

With the regular sessions, guidance and routines to do at home clients start to see the differences of when they do activities rather than choosing to stay home and restrict themselves to limited movements. Regular sessions enforce patterns and build the strength, mobility and endurance needed for healing. Teachers here at MVNT studio will guide you towards trusting what you feel, getting to understand the different or varying sensations you are feeling and giving you guidance to overcome or relearn as you continue. Progress over time does take a commitment to healing. Especially for clients who have been living with daily and months of difficulties in their movement. When pain becomes chronic and life changing getting back to movement will seem daunting but expertise with a professional and within yourself become the most beneficial in the long term.

Our MVNT Approach

A deep dive on our approach is in a previous post. Our MVNT method in summary focuses on all your past history, your lifestyle that may increase inflammation, and your goals and movement needs day to day.

These factors in mind develop into our full MVNT practice. Involved with in person or virtual pilates based training, following client education with an at home practice to continue daily. These become the stepping stones so that once each is met in ways that pain is reduced we continue to return your body to the abilities of it’s fullest potential while preventing further pain and discomfort that may involve more corrective exercises for imbalances in your musculature. Once each step is achieved we slowly progress to the movements the spine is able to do and challenge your areas of issue so that we provide the guidance and skills so that those movements no longer become an issue!

Our goal is to get you back to moving as your best self while preventing future set backs. So if this was informative to you and may interest you in becoming a client with me. Find our studio and see us for a consultation any day.
