Pilates to Unwind and Destress
We start our days with a loud ring of an alarm and end the days with maybe a drink, Netflix and a dinner. All the time in between having maybe a few sparing minutes here and there for time to ourselves without us mentally scrambling ideas in our heads.
Let’s Break it Down
Now of course we know the usual break down of the day, hopefully not as crazy intense as Mark Whalberg. Let’s go ahead and start visualizing it.
Draw a clock.
Now time to shade in:
sleeping hours
Breakfast time (hopefully)
travel time to work
Travel time home
Dinner time (hopefully)
Rest/relax time
Get ready to sleep
Notice how much time each item takes up in just a single day.
Continue this for the whole week.
Of all of those days are you noticing a pattern?Often times we forget the crucial points of alone time, destress time, and time to work on ourselves (continued education, meditation, fitness, etc). It’s vital to not only our mind but also vital for the body!
Most, if not all, people carry stress in their body whether it be tense shoulders, gripped fists or fidgeting. I find these often as signs of the body wanting to do something more for itself but is chained down frequently to the minds chaos.
An Authentic Pilates Experience
Although, I am no expert and I am only a few years in my pilates career there is an obvious difference between instructors who want others to experience the strength, healing and flexibility that Joseph Pilates originally created. To those who want you to see huge results in 3 months. Such as a slim waist, toned legs and abs that are always photo ready.
It’s up to you as an individual to find what works best for you and your needs/goals but remember to check those clocks we made and see what truly is missing.
My Classes
I consider myself as someone who will give you a routine that over time not only balances your body but also balances your mind. It’s that combination of “You can do this!” To “let go... of that nagging client, boss or xyz” and of course an educational portion that lets you take what we do outside of the studio.
A good teacher is not someone who wants to keep you to themselves, but also wants you to explore outside of your comfort zone.
Now you have your clocks, you can see the lack of or excess of something in your daily life. What are you going to do to make it balanced in the way you seek?
