Pilates Helps Hip Pain

Sometimes hip pain is a one and done deal in the physical therapy world but other times despite going to physical therapy it doesn’t fully improve or you notice different kinds of pains than before. This is where some of my time and experience working with different clients and of different injuries and backgrounds here’s how Pilates as an added modality to your exercise routine or physical therapy home exercise program can help your hip pain.

Working Through Your Ranges

I know that some of those reading this may not know but often times in physical therapy you only 100% work on the injury and not the surrounding and likely related movements, muscles, bones and attachments. Of course with a grain of salt on that as some clinics have different work arounds to insurance but that has been the majority of the clinics in my area have been. So despite us knowing a muscle working has opposing and supporting muscles we often see those other muscles not getting the love and focus they need. This is where Pilates for rehabilitation comes in. Working on not just the muscle of focus and injury but also working to get the supporting and opposing muscles to do the right mechanics in functional and balance related movements. Such as various lunges, sideline positions and rotational movements of the hip joint.
