College Anatomy vs Fitness Certification.

All fitness certifications include some portion of anatomy at the bare minimum but does it really teach you anatomy in its full capacity? Perhaps this will help you decide if taking a 5 credit (community) college class may be worth it.

What I wish I learned

What I missed learning anatomy from my pilates certification is some of the information in the picture. How a specific muscle moves the limbs in different ways. It may seem like an obvious one but we only knew what to focus on and not why it moves that way. Knowing what bone and where on the bone it attaches to is also so important as knowing that will give you a better idea of where a client may be compensating or where an injury may need more support, etc if a client has an injury. Connective tissue is also a big one for me as each type has specific formations, lengths, and purpose. Without these crucial information then learning why a body moves the way that it does can be even harder than you would expect.

I’m always staying curious and although I only get to take one or two classes at a time the information i retain really changes my perspective on everything I thought I knew already.

more information coming soon.
