Healing After Multiple Car Accidents

A story most of us in Los Angeles know. Maybe it’s the traffic or the multiple ways people are distracted on the road and lose concentration easily but we all know someone who’s had to deal with a few rear ends, an accident and perhaps a traumatic car accident that altered life as that person knows it.

Here are a few things I’ve learned to put my mind at ease until I see a doctor.

Checking for symptoms

  • Numbness or tingling in the limbs?

  • Pain in the spine, hip or shoulders?

  • Am i having a headache?

  • Has my moods drastically changed since the accident?

  • Am I experiencing any brain fog, lack of concentration, or inability to stay awake?

  • Does taking tylenol or other over the counter anti-inflammatories help with any of my aching right now?

I like to keep these in mind as the following days go by. The main concern is any disc issues that may arise from a crash which can cause pain, discomfort, and numbness or tingling sensations. The second concern depending on the impact is if you are experiencing any signs of a concussion. As these can cause immediate long term effects on your life as you age and if other future ones were to occur.

If you are experiencing any extreme change in movement, pain, or sensitivity reach out to your medical provider and likely urgently getting imaging done is highly recommended.

Healing Takes Time

A few of my perspectives on healing is as follows:

  • Do I have the proper nutrients to aide in reducing inflamation?

  • Is there anything I can add to help my healing right now?

  • Are the exercise I am doing right for ME and MY life, rather than exercises that are based on rehabilitating the general population?

  • What would be my ideal base line right now with the difficulties I am currently experiencing?

These all work together and allows a self made program that suits you as the unique person that you are. Healing is more a chemical response and so we need the nutrients to promote optimal healing is best. Finding the exercises that are right for you as a unique person not only gets you back to living your life but also let’s you know what needs more focus on to get back to your ideal baseline right now. Of course base line will change as your healing continues but having the reference of what I feel right now and how I want to feel to ease discomfort sooner allows to create smaller goals that get you the little dopamine hits that get you feeling better psychologically too, which is far more important that we think!
