How I’m doing during unemployment (‘rona post)

We’ve officially been in self quarantine for 1 month as of April 15, 2020. It has been a rough transition working 100% from home and not being able to have all the props I love to use.

Keep a routine

As some of you may know I suffer from depression and my usual go to is eating a lot more than necessary. Overwhelming amounts. I’ve started to keep to a regular schedule to keep me busy and sane during this time! It has helped a lot and I’ve kept up with what I can of my 3-4x a week workouts. Mainly pilates mat work and some light weight training with dumbbells. It’s helped a lot not just with my mood but also with my recurring sciatica that was from a car accident over a year ago.

Education

I’ve also had to take the time to transition into online college classes and dropping one that I’ve previously have done horribly online. While it’s not a huge difference than my regular classes now I’ve also given myself some extra hours here and there to continue my Burrell Education courses for menopause and hysterectomy! Always easier to learn something you love. I still look forward to being outdoors again. Siestas were a big part of my day.

Nutrition

Now let’s be real most meals have not been my usual vegetarian style mainly because we wanted to have options in case we didnt find the ingredients we needed. I’ve been the main cook in the house now but I’m enjoying it! A lot more veggies added as things have been returning to being in stock again.

Income?

Unfortunately as a sole proprietor & independent contractor (1099) I don’t qualify for most government assistance programs as they have mainly been geared towards business owners who hire employees. I’ve been grateful for my clients who have sent donations to keep me afloat during this time. I appreciate it a whole lot, thank you! The plan moving forward will be to beef up our emergency fund when we return to order & may mean skipping the rest of the year of college so I can save it instead of paying tuition and books this year.

That’s the update! Hope you all have been well and I miss you guys! Be in touch for a return day soon 😬

Here’s my little indoor garden.
