Healing in Our Group Pilates Classes

Movement can be just as healing as seeing your mental health professional. Often times it is even recommended for some clients who are struggling and are even best suited after a deep therapy session. As someone who has experienced this benefit both on accident and now on purpose it’s a great chance to go beyond into long term well being.

Our Group Pilates Classes

Most have been brought to us through a doctors recommendation. You maybe recovering from a traumatic injury, a long labor, and even a chronic health condition that needs flare management. For others this is their most supportive experience in finding movement for the first time in their lifetime after 50-60 years. This is the essential part of our pilates classes. Knowing that we all start somewhere different. Not one person with the same background or experiences.

Moving with Ease

This has been the alignment of my studio these last few years. As good as it is to workout, a good educated and insightful experience is a better long term investment than an intense tiring and sometimes “sculpt cardio” fitness class on reformers can be. Although, those can a benefit to people too it is just not something I enjoy teaching as someone with chronic pain. This highlight of my studio and lessons are to help you long term. Not only to reduce your own aches and pains but to also help your learn what works best for you and your needs. Often these larger class studios don’t allow for my 40yo and up clients. The adjustments they need, the hands-on assistance and just the confidence of being told they are doing it correctly. These are all parts of what mvnt studio is about and this lets us find that ease we’ve been seeking in our own movements.

There is Rest

This may shock some people when they participate in my studio but we do have rests. Swaying and rocking can help ease tension but also calm down the nervous system in a different way. Resting often allows for better alignment through an hour group pilates class than to continuously go and likely recruit the wrong muscle groups (hello to your stiff traps). Rest is part of the ease you can experience and a great reminder that you can have mobility in these ways without hesitancy in your daily movement.
