Improved Knee Joint Pain in 6 months
The last year has been filled with lot’s of clients between ages 40 and 80 who have had knee joint issues from tears, arthritis and other conditions. In the last 6 to 8 months each individual client has seen some massive life improvements to overall quality of life that no longer requires much attention on a regular basis. Allowing them to live life without fear or hesitation! This is what I love most of the foundation of Pilates and it’s overall balance of the body and it’s strengths. Let’s now focus on the main areas that has improved their quality of life.
The average client has done physical therapy for 3-8 months prior to seeing me. The often have a list of exercises to do that more or less helps them for a little while. However, the gap between their physical therapy (that maybe limited due to insurance or cost) is the lack of progressive overload. Meaning they can do these set of exercises but when body weight has been easy to do where do they add in the strength training aspect to it all? That’s what mvnt studio helps clients! The in between of physical rehabilitation and fitness based exercise!
All trainings inspired and learned by Rael Isacowitz of BASI Pilates, Samantha Woods Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies, and more (see about us for all certifications)
Legs Need Strength
Depending where a client may have their diagnosis and symptoms we always start with baseline exercises. How strong are their quads (without over use of IT band), how strong are their hipflexors, and with their past exercise experience where are they trying to get to? These are all small parts of a long term goal for these clients. Our Pilates based fitness training includes the following Pilates equipment and exercises to help improve overall strength in the lower extremity muscle group.
Pilates reformer - foot work with progressive load
Pilates reformer and cadillac standing lunges - as progression
Pilates reformer and cadillac balance exercises, may include balance disc and wobble boards
Pilates reformer with jumpboard - for those who want to overall improve outcomes without osteopenia/etc to develop bone density
Hips & Back Need Strength
Let’s continue into the need for back and hip strength
